‘Conversations’ on International Women’s Day

To mark ‘International Women’s Day’, B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation in association with Charu Chadha’s ‘WOW’ Magazine organized the next in series of its ‘Conversations’ programme on theme of ‘WOW’s and WOE’s of Working Women’ on 8th March 2016 at Kings College, Babarmahal, Kathmandu.

 

The programmme included five women speakers from different fields who shared their thoughts and ideas on the advantages and disadvantages of being a working woman which was followed by an interactive session. Women speakers included Suvina Shrestha from Al Jazeera, Amuda Mishra from Ujyalo Foundation, Santoshi Rana from Bihani Social Venture, Sharmila Thapa from Samida Women Development Forum  and Shivani Neupane, the writer. 

 

The speakers touched upon diverse issues regarding women’s development as also the role and challenges faced by them. Particularly interesting was the narration of personal challenge faced by Ms. Sharmila Thapa which inspired a girl student from St. Mary’s to come on the stage and hug her. 

 

Prior to the programme, Ms. Ruby Jaspreet Sharma, Secretary of B. P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation shared information about the foundation and stressed on the role played by the foundation in increasing the outreach of artists, crafts persons, scholars, etc. amongst the public.

 

The programme was attended by the college students and also the women and men from social organisations, media houses and prominent women achievers.
