B.P. Koirala India Nepal Foundation supported Nawa Mithila Foundation to organize, the "7th Janakpur Literature Festival 2026"  which was successfully held from 15 May to 17 May 2026., at the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Culture Center in Janakpurdham. Under the central theme "Celebration of Ground, Culture, and Values," the three-day event featured multi-dimensional panel discussions and interactions spanning literature, Mithila culture, heritage preservation, women empowerment, sports, artificial intelligence (AI), and geopolitics. Officially inaugurated by the Province Head of Madhesh Province, Dr. Surendra Labh, the festival brought together hundreds of distinguished creators, scholars, and artists from both Nepal and India, attracting over 7,100 in-person attendees alongside millions of digital viewers. Key highlights included a Heritage Walk, a Children’s Activity Corner, book launches, and prestigious honors—such as presenting the Amit Jha Memorial Literature and Music Award to Ashok Datta and a special felicitation to veteran writer Mahendra Malangia. Ultimately, the event concluded as a major success, significantly contributing to the promotion of cultural tourism, fostering reading habits among youth, and strengthening the cross-border cultural ties between Nepal and India.
